Your Guide to Kitchen Cabinet Grades

You have the freedom to style your kitchen during a remodeling project. When it comes to kitchen cabinets, there are four grades available to you. To help you learn and choose what’s best for your project, a kitchen cabinet refacing professional is here to help.

Kitchen Cabinet Grades

Ready-to-Assemble

The most inexpensive of the four is Ready-to-Assemble (RTA) kitchen cabinets. They come in boxes and are commonly found in home improvement stores. For a durable and long-lasting build, RTA cabinets still require a professional to install. However, this grade of cabinets is a popular choice for homeowners who prefer DIY. The selection of RTA cabinets is limited and its long-term durability depends on the workmanship.

Stock Cabinets

Stock cabinets are known to be a practical choice. This grade is basic and economical, but is only available in fixed sizes and cannot be customized. They come in large series and a limited range of kitchen accessories. If you’re considering stock cabinets, you may have to adjust other elements like your kitchen countertops. Stock cabinets are available in solid wood, melamine and laminated particleboard.

Semi-Custom

As the name suggests, this grade is customizable in some of its elements. You can alter them in size, in-depth and height. If you would like to express your style on a budget, semi-custom cabinets are perfect for you. They come in a selection of materials, styles and finishes. Just make sure to consider in your timeline since semi-custom cabinets usually take four to eight weeks to be altered.

Custom

To have complete control and freedom to customize your kitchen cabinets, choose custom grade. This grade is guaranteed to meet all your needs in style, storage and functionality. It’s the most expensive grade out of the four, but all of the elements are up to you. You can decide on the color, finish and material.
